When I was a kid, I always had a fascination with the military. I think it started from hanging around my dad who would watch the “Tour of Duty” TV series and movies like Platoon, Apocalypse Now and Hamburger Hill. Like all my interests, my folks were always very supportive and thought it’d be fun to take me to an Army Surplus store. They bought me some fatigues, a water bottle, a helmet, a flashlight and I was ready to go. My friends and I would take our toy M16s to the local conservation park and play war games.
As I got older, I stopped playing dress up, but continued with the war games. We would use elastic bands held between our fingers to slingshot tightly rolled pieces of paper. Looking back, we were lucky we never took an eye out. As I grew older, the war games eventually stopped, but every now and then, an opportunity would come to re-spark my interest. In College, what began as a simple water gun fight with a few guns from the dollar store, became an all out Super Soaker war. People began to buy more powerful and larger guns to one up each other. I ultimately got this thing (2 litre capacity) and it was over.
Recently I was killing some time at the mall and ended up at a ToysRus. I was walking through the isles and something caught my eye. There were packs of foam and rubber bullets everywhere. There were bullet belts, magazine cartridges, pretty much an arsenal of any form of toy ammunition you could imagine.
After being drawn to the ammunition, I looked down the isle and saw an impressive collection of guns for these bullets. I had discovered the way of the Nerf! That old war game passion was reignited and I had to buy one. I ended up getting this one:
Took it home and its absolutely awesome. Each clip hold 6 bullets. The bullets fly about 20 feet with some good speed and when you’re out of bullets, you simply pop in a new clip and begin firing all over again. Where was this when I was a kid? Anyways, after looking on YouTube, I realized that there was a pretty big Nerf subculture out there. People open their guns to modify them so the bullets go faster, they customize and paint them and even add LED’s to the bullet chambers. It’s crazy! If I modify mine, I’ll definitely post the process. This discovery was incredible! No matter what age you are, having one of these is a must. It would be a great item to have around the office for a late night rumble. Check this The Great office War video out!
This one is next on my wish list. The bullet belt holds like 25 bullets and fires them automatically. This thing is a beast and is so big it comes with a fucken tripod! Remove the tripod and its like Vasquez and Drake’s gun from Aliens. Here’s a clip of this thing in action! Don’t wait, pick one up now!
