Haven’t posted in a while as we’ve been very busy, frantically getting ready to move. I never realized the amount of crap I’ve accumulated over the years (I’ll share more of that in another blog). This experience has me seriously reconsidering buying more junk in the future. Okay, this post has nothing to do with the move, just something I look back on with fond memories (pre-moving days) hoping they’ll be back soon.
I’m a regular reader of Giant Robot magazine and in each issue, there’s a section called “My Perfect Day” that I always enjoy reading. For me, my perfect day, typically on a weekend, involves sleeping in until about 10am. I flip on the TV for some background noise and gradually awaken to a repeat of a Canadian weekly investigative news show, The Fifth Estate. As the show wraps up, my wife and the Beast roll out of bed and we bundle up to go for our morning walk in the frigid cold of Ontario. We’re lucky to live in an area lined with gourmet food shops and we come home with freshly baked bread and pastries, local produce and butcher quality meats (mainly bacon). After running some errands (banking, laundry etc.) the three of us return to a warm home, ready to eat! While I clean the Beast off and prepare a pot of coffee, my wife (who’s a fantastic cook), prepares a brunch. After chowing down, we all take a nap, get up to watch the second half of the Sunday marquee NBA matchup, and that’s pretty much my perfect day!
We were lucky and got to do this twice this weekend!
Here’s Saturday’s brunch of an omelet, roasted potato home fries with fresh herbs, multigrain toast and bacon!
