Weekend Brunch in TO

Ever since we got our dog Brooster over three years ago, we rarely have the opportunity to go out to eat. Frankly, its my own hang up of not wanting to leave him at home on weeknights or weekend since the poor guys on his own during the work week. It doesn’t help that he’s fully aware of my conscience and milks it. That bugger somehow knows it’s a weekend or weeknight and he’ll start wimpering and crying the minute we show signs of leaving him alone. The crazy thing is that he also knows when it’s a weekday and we’re leaving for work cause he doesn’t seem to mind that at all. As I was saying, because of him, we rarely go out. However, on the rare opportunity we get some relief via my folks, or decide to leave him for bit, one of my favourite things to do is to go out to brunch with my wife.
For brunch, I’m a little high maintenance and although simple bacon and eggs goes a very long way, my favourite place to go to on a weekend morning is this place called Le Select. Good coffee, warm bread and a good variety of brunch items as well as more sturdy lunch meals at pretty reasonable prices.

On this day, my wife got the poached eggs with mixed mushrooms and grilled polenta.
For me, I got the duck confit (not really a brunch item) with fries. Good shit!

Following lunch with a snack of PURE chestnut at this place called the Coffee Mill. It’ll make you shit within thirty minutes so make sure you’re not too far from a washroom, but if you like chestnut, it’s worth it!
