Lego Master

Haven’t posted for a long long while.  Things have been pretty hectic on the home front but are finally back to normal.  I should have more regular updates going forward.

Here’s a quick post.  I’ve always been a huge fan of Lego.  Ever since I was probably five years old, I always had a bucket of Lego in front of me.  Saturday mornings, while my folks were sleeping, I would get up, grab my lego and play for hours.  I was never a fan of the standard sets and would rather use the pieces to build my own creations (airplanes, space ships, hockey teams, sports stadiums, cars, etc.).  I stopped playing regularly about ten years ago, but recently rekindled my love when  my folks bought my son his first set of Duplos (don’t settle for the Megablock shit, it’s not the same) and my cousins began collecting intricate Lego sets that were pretty incredible.

Anyways, although I’m rusty and I’m sure a lot has changed in Lego since I played, I saw something in the paper that really tempted me.  Canada’s first $12-million, 34,000 square foot “Legoland Discovery Centre” is set to open in Vaughan (a suburb just North of Toronto).  For the store, they’re holding a Lego competition.  The prize for the winner, aside from being crowned “Canada’s first Lego Master Model Builder” is to be offered a full time position at the store!  This is every Lego lovers dream!

Anyways, check out the article here as auditions are open to the public and held at the end of the month.  For me, I think my time has passed, but I’m working on training the next generation.
