Thanks to the family for this one. Recent Devastator reissue – a nod to my childhood. This one is huge and stands almost 2ft tall. For the size, this thing is pretty good. Workmanship and materials are so so and are weak in the eyes of my friend Justin

Got em all!
After less than two weeks, I was able to get the full set of McDonald’s Peanuts figures (x2!). I have to thank my folks who sourced their friends and drove around the place looking for me. My mom called all her friends and they all came through. It seemed
Go Get It!
Our good friends A&A came by for diner with their daughter last night. On their way out, they mentioned having to make a stop at McDonald’s to find the remaining Charlie Brown figures they needed from McDonalds’ recent “The Peanuts Movie” promotion. I inquired a bit more and thought the figures were pretty interesting. Here’s what they look like: There’s 12 in total and I think they’re around $2each. Inspired by A&A, on my way home from swimming this morning, we stopped by McDonald’s to see what they had. They had Number 7, 8 and 9 so I picked up…
Boutiqueoeuff
Original “Oeuff” platform toy and customized samples (2004). Back in 2004, having been a collector of vinyl toys for some time, I decided to take a shot at creating my own figure. I designed the “Oeuff” platform figure modeled off the egg or oeuf theme, pulled some money together, found a manufacturer and within six months, I approved the sculpt and we were ready for production! Could it be that simple? Unfortunately not. Between production delays, factory errors, a financial crises and shady middle men, production eventually halted. Despite these complications, I have no regrets. I learned a lot, didn’t…
Toy Collection: Entry 6 (Back To The Future – Lego CUUSSOO)
Artist: Masashi (team BTTF) Series: Lego Cuusoo (#004) Date Purchased: August 2013 Price purchased: $45CAD Story: I played with Lego ever since I was a toddler. Although I haven’t purchased any sets for a while now, I’ve always been on the lookout for interesting sets (not to mention I have some relatives and friends who are simply mad about Lego and keep me up to date). About a year and half ago (sometime in 2011), I came across something called LEGO CUUSOO. I wasn’t sure if it was official Lego, but the concept sounded pretty cool. Here’s how it works (from…
Lego Master
Haven’t posted for a long long while. Things have been pretty hectic on the home front but are finally back to normal. I should have more regular updates going forward. Here’s a quick post. I’ve always been a huge fan of Lego. Ever since I was probably five years old, I always had a bucket of Lego in front of me. Saturday mornings, while my folks were sleeping, I would get up, grab my lego and play for hours. I was never a fan of the standard sets and would rather use the pieces to build my own creations (airplanes,…
Toy Blogs
After I finally decided to share my project Boutiqueoeuff, I found that although it can be challenging getting exposure, there’s a very supportive vinyl toy community out there. Here are some very informative blogs to check out for your daily vinyl toy fix. These guys were also kind enough to drop a post about Boutiqueoeuff. Spanky Stokes Toysrevil Clutter Magazine Plastic and Plush I also found a few artist community sites, linking artists and their work to each other and collectors. I found Boutiqueoeuff on some of these sites and I also uploaded my portfolio onto a few myself….
Christmas Classic
Merry Christmas everyone! For the past week, we’ve been going to many Christmas parties, feasting out non stop: turkey with all the trimmings, lobster quiche, roast duck, seafood platters and non stop desserts. Didn’t lug my camera around to take pictures, but we are now recovering from a food coma. In the midst of the holiday season, I recalled a childhood memory (related to toys) that I wanted to share. Since I was a child, my family had a tradition where we would leave out a plate of cookies and a glass of milk by the fireplace on Christmas eve. In the morning, I would rush down and…
Nice Toy
Was at the toy store this weekend and saw this in the aisles. Here’s the close up.
Army of Generals
In one of my previous entries, I wrote about the fall of Japanese fashion brand “A Bathing Ape” (Bape) and how they were one of the coolest brands out there. One way they separated themselves from the competition was through their incredibly designed stores by the Wonderwall design firm. It’s sad that a lot of their shops are now closed down, but you can see most of them on Wonderwall’s site (many of the below pictures were found there). Anyways, when I was in Japan several years ago, I was able to check out the Baby Milo store. Its a…
NERdF
When I was a kid, I always had a fascination with the military. I think it started from hanging around my dad who would watch the “Tour of Duty” TV series and movies like Platoon, Apocalypse Now and Hamburger Hill. Like all my interests, my folks were always very supportive and thought it’d be fun to take me to an Army Surplus store. They bought me some fatigues, a water bottle, a helmet, a flashlight and I was ready to go. My friends and I would take our toy M16s to the local conservation park and play war games. As…
The In-Crowd
For the past year or so, I’ve been trying to track down some of Amos Toys‘ “In-Crowd” series of vinyl figures created by James Jarvis. The “In-Crowd” was a series of 10 sets of 8-10cm figures. Each set had 6-7 figures of a common theme such as Zombies, Wrestling, Heavy Metal, etc. With anything I collect, the challenge isn’t simply locating the item, its finding it at a decent price. That’s all part of the hunt and where the fun is. A few weeks ago, I was able to locate the coveted Zombie set and it arrived today! Here’s a shot…
Beast Versus Machine
On our recent road trip to Niagara, we took a quick pit stop in Buffalo to check out the nearby Outlet Mall. Although we didn’t pick up anything at the mall, on our way back we stopped by a Kmart. I’ve been looking for the new Star Wars At At Walker in Canada for the past few weeks but couldn’t find it anywhere. Anyways, trusty Kmart had two on the shelves and I grabbed one. I was the envy of the aisles and every kid with his moms was staring at me holding this monster! This thing is AWESOME and…
Finally got one!
I’ve been tracking this thing for over a year now. Not really into collecting Bearbricks, I passed when the first version was available on Kawsone. I attempted to get the grey one but was five minutes too late and they were sold out. Not willing to pay the insane reseller prices, I kept searching online for a bargain. No go. The Black version was then released and I was ready to pull the trigger but they were never made available on Kawsone. I was pretty sure I missed out again. For my birthday, my wife not only tracked one…
