Story:  This was my very first 1/6 scale figure.   These are not limited or too hard to find, but the detail on these figures is incredible for the price point.  I first started getting interested in these when my friend Justin would show me photos of his friend’s 1/6 Iron Man collections in Hong Kong.  I also saw them at a small toys shop (Toys2) that sells them.  They have a huge display of figures – mostly Star Wars, superheroes, athletes and movie characters.  The facial sculpts, clothing and accessories are very detailed and realistic.  I know myself and if I start buying the figures, it could become an obsession so I didn’t bother buying any figures.  However, I was drawn to the large vehicles (google the Hot Toys Tumbler) and robots. I saw this ED209 from Robocop and really thought about getting one.  I always loved the way he looked in the movie and I have a soft spot for things from my childhood.  I still remember my Aunty Sandy babysitting me at her place when I was a kid and she let me watch Robocop on TV (less “the hand scene” where she covered my eyes).   Anyways, the detail on Ed209 was so good and the figure was huge at approx. 35cm tall with 25 points of articulation.  Bad news was that it was too expensive for me, retailing at just over $400USD so I had to pass.

After giving up for a bit, I finally came across one on Kijii for $275 which was fantastic.  It was previously owned, but unopened – still in the original brown shipper box.  I connected with the guy and agreed to meet.  The funny story was I’ve always been a really conservative guy, and after hearing all sorts of Craigslist and Kijii horror stories, I asked my friend Dave to come with me.  He was going to come a bit early to meet the guy at a local coffee shop with me.  Funny thing was Dave came late.  I met the guy, traded funds for the toy and then Dave shows up.  Regardless, it’s always great that I can count on him for his help (late or not).  The other funny things was we were in a coffee shop with all sorts of older folks, and I’m carrying this monster box out like it ToysRuS.

Here’s some more detailed photos of the figure.
